Biography

Professor, Imperial College London, UK

I am a Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Imperial College London. I did my undergrad in Zoology and Physiology at the University of East Anglia and the University of California, Berkeley, and my PhD at Imperial. My research mainly focuses on the gut brain axis and the hormonal control of energy and glucose homeostasis. I am also heavily involved in teaching; I am course Director for the intercalated BSc in Endocrinology, I teach endocrinology to Medical and Medical Bioscience students, and I supervise MSc and BSc projects. I am Director of Postgraduate Studies for my Department, so I have a lot of experience in supervising postgraduate research and troubleshooting the challenges they face. I am also the admissions tutor for widening participation in medicine, so I do quite a bit of outreach work. I'm also currently chair of the Science Committee for the Society of Endocrinology.
