Call for BSN Trustee and ECR Deputy Representative nominations
Join the BSN Committee and have a say in how your Society is run.
The BSN is run by a Committee of Trustees. Apart from the ECR Trustee, they serve a fixed term of four years, but may seek re-election at the end of any term. This year we will have four regular Trustee vacancies. Three of the existing Trustees whose terms are ending are planning to stand for re-election.
The ECR Deputy Representative will also be elected by the ECR members and will serve as a Trustee for one year after serving a year as Deputy.
The full list of current Committee members is on the website: www.neuroendo.org.uk/committee.php
According to the BSN’s Rules, the Trustee Committee should reflect all aspects of the BSN community, including:
- subject knowledge and balance
- geographical and subject distribution;
- gender, ethnic and age balance;
- balance of academic, industrial and other relevant experience;
- knowledge of and involvement in national and international neuroendocrinology
The BSN actively encourages nominations of neuroendocrinologists from groups historically under-represented in the field.
The BSN is a charity, and the Trustees are responsible to the Charity Commission for the governance and management of the charity. Prospective nominees are encouraged to read the relevant Charity Commission information and to review the BSN’s governance documents and accounts. The Committee meets, on average, four times per year, but the number of meetings can be influenced by external factors (e.g. conference planning). Committee meetings may occur in association with scientific meetings, be stand-alone Committee meetings, or more typically be virtual. Trustees will typically be expected to also serve on at least one additional ad hoc or standing sub-committee (e.g., the grants panel) and to attend the BSN’s annual conference.
If you would like to nominate a candidate for the main Committee or the ECR vacancy, or to be nominated yourself for either, please complete the form sent to all members via email on 30 April 2026 before midnight GMT+1 on 31 May 2026.
Candidates, including existing Trustees standing for re-election, must be nominated by two paid-up members of the BSN. For regular Committee members, at least one of these must be an Ordinary Member. For the ECR role, at least one must be an ECR member. Please ensure that your nominators have paid their membership for this year and are in the correct category of membership. Nominees with incorrect nomination forms will not go forward for election.
If the number of nominations does not exceed the number of vacancies, no election will be required. If the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies, an election will be held. The results of any election will be notified to members at or before the AGM.
